Have you ever thought why taxis in Barcelona are black and yellow? We need to go back to 1934, when the engineer Jaume Vachier, member of the city council in Barcelona, decided to unify both rates and colors for all the taxis in the city. He considered adopting yellow as the common identification. Since then, taxis are as we see them today: painted in black with yellow doors. There are other places where taxis are the same as in Barcelona: Buenos Aires and Montevideo, but these are just few exceptions.
